When I was a kid, we had this free performance down at the local community center. I think it was for the fourth of July, so there was a barbecue, and some games. The thing I remember the most was this magician that did a show. I was completely mesmerized by his tricks. Some were card tricks and some were rabbit out of the hat tricks. I made it a point from then on to learn magic tricks.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how easily a crowd of strangers can be captivated by some simple magic tricks that only take an hour, at most, to learn. People loved to be entertained, and if you are the one entertaining them, you suddenly become some kind of celebrity for some reason. If you’d like to learn a few magic tricks, then I’ll give a couple of easy pointers to get you on your way.

Of course, it goes with saying that you need to learn a few magic tricks. Most people only learn a few card tricks, but if you really want to expand your horizons, learn a few sleight of hand tricks with ordinary objects. This will allow you to create your own tricks in the moment, using things from people in your audience.

One thing you’ll need that many people don’t even think about is good public speaking skills. A good loud voice, the ability to read and respond to the mood of the crowd, and to move you “presentation” along when the inevitable bumps come up.

If you are in the majority of adults who are terrified of public speaking, this can easily be overcome. Joining a toastmasters group can go a great length to helping you with this. And the best part is that public speaking skills can help you in many other areas of life.

Putting these two skills together will be you powerful crowd pleasing abilities that will keep you in demand and full of options. You will soon find yourself at the center of attention wherever you choose to go.
