There isn’t anything quite as enjoyable as the feeling of a lush lawn on the bottom of your feet.Whether you have it just for the simple enjoyment of rolling around on, or walking in, or playing on, or just simply the fact that you love to look at greenery, there’s nothing that compares to owning a nice patch of lush green lawn. But without proper lawn and garden care, how can you expect your lawn to thrive?

Step 1: Plan Your Lawn
Setting up the plan for your lawn and garden care is a lot easier said than done. There are a lot of factors you must consider, Not the least of which is the size that you intend to have your lawn, and what shape it will be. Being aware of these two things before and will give you the knowledge to determine the kind and extent of the maintenance your yard will require and also it’s watering needs.
Size: Make sure that you get the dimensions of your lawn so you know exactly how many square feet of coverage is required.
Shape and Layout: Choose a layout for your lawn, make sure that the layout while you to mow without backing up for stopping. You should avoid making sharp curves and corners, while including borders and the layout the will provide you with an easier mowing experience.
Step 2: Pick Out the Grass
The type of grass is another important step in lawn and garden care. You need to make sure that your grass is compatible with the soil for your region. Check your local extension branch for a guide on grass types growing in your region and choose grass that corresponds to it.
After many years of performing lawn and garden service, we have found out that some grasses, such as Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass, like the Northern Hemisphere better because it’s cooler.. there are also some that like the hotter weather of the Southern climates, like the Bermuda, St. Augustine, and zoysia. If you’re unsure about your region, or have any doubts, but a safe bet would be to use tall fescue which is known to grow in areas where the regions merge together.
Step 3: Test the Soil
Getting your soil tested is the next most important thing you can do for lawn and garden care. There are a whole lot of different soil types and each different kind is likely to have different acidic levels and different nutrient content. In order to get the right fertilizer for your soil type, you need to get your soil tested first.
After the soil is tested, the problems with it need to be corrected accordingly. Often, organic matter is recommended to increase the nutrient levels in soil. However though, if you’re wishing to adjust the soil’s acidity level to a balanced state then you will find that lawn and garden care specialists recommend using lime and sulfur to do this. Just distribute a 2 to
3 in or five to eight cm layer of organic nutrient over the lawn and incorporate it to 6 to nine inches or fifteen to 23 cm into the ground.
Step 4: Install a Sprinkler System
While grass does not need constant watering, water remains an essential component in its growth. With that in mind, you can see how important to lawn and garden care a sprinkler system is. This is especially significant if you live in an area where the growing season is naturally dry. If you get a lot of rain in the summer time, then having a sprinkler system in ground is an convenient option rather than a necessity.
