For The Most Personal Tattoo You Must Design Your Own Tattoo
It seems that mankind has been fascinated with tattoos since the first man (or woman) figured out how to make ink. Though this form of inked body art has in the past been most commonly associated with tribal markings as a means of showing status in the tribe, it has now become an almost unnoticeably common fact of life. Today, both men and women tattoo their bodies for a variety of reasons, and it has little to do with social status. Some use tattoos to make their bodies more unique; others get tattoos to express their religious beliefs; still others see the markings as nothing more than a means for decorating their bodies. If you are in the process of deciding upon a tattoo, you may want to use the opportunity to design your own tattoo and have it be a unique representation of your personality.
When you choose to design your own tattoo, there are a number of important considerations that you need to make. Obviously, the most important consideration has to do with the design itself. Tattoos are permanent body markings, and not easily (or cheaply!) removed. The tattoo you get today is going to be with you for life, so the design should not be left to momentary impulses that you may later regret. For this reason, tattooing your body with the name of your current boyfriend or girlfriend, while attractive and exciting at his point in your life, will prove to be a poor decision indeed if you are not with that person for the rest of your life!
After you have decided what not to do, the time comes for you to actually design your own tattoo. Many people choose their design by looking to the animals and plants that surround us in nature. Flowers and animals of every kind continue to remain among the more popular choices for tattoos, and offer a timeless attractiveness that leads to few if any regrets as the bearer ages. Just a few years ago, the most popular images for tattoos were pictures of dolphins. Over the years, bears, eagles, and roses have all been popular choices.
Equally inspiring are the heavens themselves. Look to the night sky and you will see an endless variety of inspirational subject matter to help you design your own tattoo. Take for example the star. With the many different types of stars available for illustration - ranging from the nautical star to the pentagram and everything in between - you can easily design a custom tattoo that will be yours and yours alone. And don’t be afraid to use several different elements to create on awe-inspiring design. Wolves under a moon-filled sky watching a shooting star blaze across the heavens, for example.
Of course, you should give just as much thought to the type of color scheme that you use when you design your own tattoo. Though the tattoo artist will be able to use almost any color choice that you desire, you still need to decide what colors are going to work within your own design and upon your own body. Make sure that both the design and the colors will accentuate your body - you will, after all, serve as your tattoo’s canvas for your entire life.
